What does humanism mean to you?
As we celebrate World Humanist Day on the 21st of June, the Humanist Society is inviting our 6,000+ members and supporters to share their personal humanist stories.
Humanism is a diverse and growing philosophy, shaped by the experiences, values, and perspectives of the people who embrace it. For some, humanism provides a framework for living ethically without religion. For others, it is a commitment to reason, compassion, scientific thinking, and working towards a better world. Whatever your path, we’d love to hear your story.
This World Humanist Day, we’re creating a collection of reflections from our community that explores the many ways people come to humanism and what it means in their everyday lives. Whether you’ve identified as a humanist for decades or have only recently discovered the philosophy, your voice is an important part of our shared story.
You might like to tell us:
• How you first encountered humanism
• What humanist values mean to you
• How humanism influences your daily life
• Why you think humanism matters today
• What being part of the humanist community means to you
Submissions can be as short or as detailed as you’d like. We’re looking for authentic personal reflections rather than polished essays.
Selected responses may be featured across our website, newsletter, and social media channels. If you’d prefer your contribution to remain anonymous, you’ll have the option to let us know when submitting.
