Our Impact

The Humanist Society continues to turn humanist values into action. In 2024-25 we focused on building community, supporting people through difficult moments, investing in the next generation of thinkers, and advocating for a fairer and more compassionate society. From launching our first pilot for the Humanist Companioning program to standing up for dignity and equality, our work is helping humanism make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

• Humanism in action: We launched our Humanist Companioning program, training volunteers to offer compassionate, non-judgemental support to people experiencing loneliness, grief and major life transitions.
• Growing our community: Our digital community grew strongly, with email subscribers increasing by 103.3%, Instagram followers by 36% and Facebook followers by 7.9% over the year.
• Supporting future leaders: Through the Global Voices Fellowship, we supported emerging Australian leader Dinethi Manatunge to develop evidence-based policy and engage with international institutions.
• Speaking up for change: We advocated for compassionate Voluntary Assisted Dying reform, a more secular Parliament and progress towards Treaty in Victoria — putting humanist values of dignity, fairness and equality into practice.
