Volunteer with the Humanist Society
Become a member
The best way to get involved is to become a member of the Humanist Society. Membership is the foundation of everything we do — and it’s the first step in finding your place in our community. From there, you can choose to contribute your time and skills as a volunteer.
Volunteering with the Humanist Society is more than just helping out — it’s about belonging to a community that values reason, compassion and human dignity. Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do, shaping projects, building connections and amplifying the humanist voice in Victoria.
Our Companioning program
The most popular way to volunteer is through our Companioning program. This initiative brings humanists together to support and connect with people experiencing loneliness and isolation. Whether you’re new to humanism or a long-time member, Companioning is a way to build friendships, share experiences and make humanism part of everyday life.
Other Ways to Contribute
If you’d like to share your time and skills in other ways, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved, such as:
Working on campaigns especially involving submissions and drafting e-comms reach-outs
Helping expand our reach through social media and other marketing
Assisting at events, campaigns and helping to organise public activities
Building networks with allied organisations
